My training began in 1999 and I have since qualified in Anatomy & Physiology, Body Massage, Advanced Massage, Indian Head Massage, Balinese Massage, Remedial & Sports Injuries Massage, Mobilisation and Manipulation techniques and postural analysis.
Recently I have trained with Art Riggs and Thomas Myers in Anatomy Trains, looking at interconnections of muscles and fascia throughout the body and how to work away from an area of acute injury, whilst being able to relieve and release that area. Analysis of a client’s posture, using this technique, enables me to bring the muscles into balance, thus aligning the body structurally at the same time. I use assisted stretching of muscles during treatment and recommend stretching and strengthening exercises as a way for the client to maintain their own body.
A wide range of sports people have become clients, including Cricketers, Footballers, Golfers, Boxers, Martial Arts Instructors, Swimmers and Marathon Runners.
I am also an experienced Reiki Master, having worked with people of all ages and needs, including people coming to the end of their lives, helping them to find peace, ease their pain and to pass on without fear. I feel very priviledged to have been involved in their care.
I am licensed to practice through the Complementary Therapists Association and regularly attend new courses to maintain my level of Continuous Professional Development.
Previous to becoming a Therapist, I worked in the NHS and so have a good understanding of how conventional medicine works, including mental health illness issues. I am happy to count NHS Consultants, Doctors, Nurses and Administration staff as part of my extensive client base.
Giving people time is, in my experience, a healing in itself. Time for them to off-load, release, ease pain, find peace and gain balance. It is not just about treating a painful shoulder or lower back, it is looking holistically at every aspect of your care – not only physical – so that together we can reach the cause of the problem, rather than just treating the symptoms. We can then work out a tailor-made Care Plan, enabling you to be well on all levels.
As I work with a professional team of highly qualified and caring therapists, you will have access to a wide range of therapies, which I am happy to recommend if your particular symptoms would be better served by another, or combination of treatments. Your continued health and well-being are my number one priority.
